Social Media Group Inc. develops and operates Social Networks with Mobile Apps in specific industry sectors such as arts & entertainment, sports, and finance. Our Industry sectors have world-wide appeal and target audiences with specific interests in each sector - we call them “Umbrella” social networks. Our social networks and mobile applications are directed to the burgeoning mobile industry, led by Smartphones such as iPhones, Androids, as well as tablets such as iPads.

Historically, all forms of media have evolved from a general interest audience to audiences having specific interests – this “tipping point” is called verticalization. While the audience is smaller, the media revenue it generates per viewer/user is substantially higher. This tipping point is significant to social media for two reasons. First, social network users have a growing thirst for social networks specific to their areas of interests, rather than a one-size-fits-all, or horizontal (general purpose) social network such as Facebook (with 750-Million users). Second, advertisers are now substantially increasing spending in the social network and mobile arenas, quickly replacing old media, such as print, radio, and TV (including subscriber-based TV).

Our purpose is to monetize for our shareholders one or more industry sectors, including Mobile Apps, some of which may have patent capability, and are developed in conjunction with our shareholder, Mobile Genius LLC, an app development group from MIT.

Using a cloud platform and our "cookie-cutter" approach, we can efficiently launch additional umbrella networks, and significantly save cost and time to market. This methodology lowers risks while focusing on increasing shareholder value.

Our first vertical social network, ForTalent.com, was just launched in beta. It is the first arts and entertainment social network, encompassing every major A&E category. ForTalent.com has garnered emerging and established talents, including celebrities (Oscar & Pulitzer Prize winners), their fans, and branded A&E organizations worldwide. ForTalent.com has already obtained industry support, and has been an invited co-sponsor of the New York Oscar Awards ceremony, NY Emmy Awards, Broadway’s Drama Desk Awards and the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts.

Arts and entertainment, a mega-billion-dollar industry, is representative of the specific industry sector umbrella social media networks that we will continue to develop, own, and monetize.
